As Audio Director and Composer at Precursor Games, Giancarlo’s work involves creating all aspects of sound and music for the studio’s projects. His latest goals include enhancing the “horror-adventure” genre with a complete orchestral and cinematic treatment for Precursor’s episodic series Shadow of the Eternals.
Giancarlo was trained in classical piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music in Ontario, Canada. On scholarship, he attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where he studied recording arts. He also delved into film scoring and interactive audio implementation using middleware technologies, helping mould the school’s game audio classes into a full-fledged curriculum.
Giancarlo won the Music Production award for excellence in the major, and completed his Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Production & Engineering and Piano Performance. Along with producing talented artists from around the world at Berklee, Giancarlo had the opportunity to perform in the renown Video Game Orchestra Choir with legendary game composer Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy Series, Chrono Trigger) at Anime Boston in 2010.
Upon graduating, Giancarlo worked in Toronto as a sound designer on several advertising campaigns, including Toyota’s Scion, as well as the 2011 video game X-Men: Destiny.
His other credits include the World War II short epic In The Hearts of Men, which garnered various awards including Best Picture at the Arizona Film Festival in 2011. He also scored the theme music to the premiere episode of the YouTube web-series Halo: Helljumper. As well, Giancarlo’s music can be heard on various iPhone games such as Forest Frenzy and Galaxy Express. His singer-songwriter album, Love is Letting Go is available on iTunes.
Giancarlo constantly immerses himself in the world of videogame, film and television music, and is thrilled to contribute to the mediums and genres that inspire him.
